Washington: Trump has threatened to retaliate strongly against Iran if it attacks the United States.

In a statement released on Twitter, US President Trump said that according to media reports, Iran could plan attacks and assassinations against the United States to avenge the assassination of General Qasim Soleimani.

The president of the United States said that General Qasim Soleimani had been assassinated due to plans for future attacks, the assassinations of American troops and the assassinations that had taken place over the years.

Trump added that any Iranian attack on the United States would be met with a thousand times more serious attack on Iran.

Tensions between the United States and Iran

On January 3, 2020, the United States killed General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Quds Force, in a missile strike in Baghdad, prompting a strong response from Iran.

On the morning of January 8, Iran retaliated by firing missiles at two US military airfields in Iraq, killing at least 80 people. Denied

During the tensions between Iran and the United States following the assassination of General Qasim Soleimani, a Ukrainian airliner crashed in Iran on January 8, killing all 176 people on board.

The plane was headed from Tehran to Ukraine's capital Kifa, with 82 Iranians and 63 Canadians on board.

The United States, Canada and other Western nations have accused Iran of firing missiles at the plane, but Iran has repeatedly denied the allegations.

Iran also announced its cooperation in investigating the incident and invited the United States to investigate, but after international pressure, Iran admitted to shooting down the plane.
