British Airways is going through the worst financial crisis in history

LONDON (Reuters) - British Airways, the British state airline, has been hit by the worst financial crisis in its history due to a lockdown caused by the corona virus.

According to foreign media, the chief executive of British Airways told the parliamentary committee in a briefing that all hopes of a speedy return to normalcy have been dashed due to fears of flying planes during the global Corona virus epidemic. All possible measures are being taken to get through the winter season.

The British Airways chief executive said the airline operated 25 to 30 percent of its scheduled flights.

The airline director suggested that thousands of jobs would be lost due to financial difficulties, saying that having too few flights meant fewer people were needed to serve people.

The British Airways CEO told the committee that the airline was going through the worst period in its 100-year history and that we were fighting for our survival.

""We are not seeing a prompt return of our travelers in a brief timeframe, so the carrier is taking all potential measures to guarantee that the winter season" passes," he said.

According to the British media, due to the financial crisis caused by the corona virus, British Airways has relocated some 13,000 employees and has rehired the remaining employees.

The company says it has no choice but to lose $ 20 million a day, while the airline's CEO has also cut his salary by nearly a third.
